Noémi Veronika Szakonyi is a freelance film director and producer, graduated in 2011 from the Beijing Film Academy. After leaving China, she applied to the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest for the directing documentaries master course. She graduated in July 2015 with an animated documentary. Since then she’s been running her company with her former classmates, called Match Frame Productions, focusing on documentaries and short films. She is co-producing documentaries with HBO Europe, Creative Europe Media and the Hungarian National Film Fund. Noémi is a Sundance Documentary Film Program Fellow in 2019 and 2017, due to her first feature documentary as a director and her first feature documentary as a producer. She is currently based in New York working on her films while she is on a leave of absence in the Graduate Film Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Noémi is an active member of the New York Woman in Film & Television (NYWIFT).
