Match Frame Productions is a film production company based in Budapest, focusing on socially relevant creative documentaries and short films. Noémi Veronika Szakonyi and Máté Artur Vincze founded the company at the end of 2014 in order to support and provide a background for young Hungarian documentary filmmakers. They have graduated from the first documentary directing MA course in Hungary where they started to develop projects together with their classmates.
In the first two years they received funding from the Hungarian Media Patronage Program and the National Cultural Fund of Hungary. They produced two television documentaries, short fiction films and short documentaries, which premiered at festivals like Sheffield Doc/Fest, Reykjavík International Film Festival or DocLisboa. Their television documentaries (Condemned to Live and Burdened by the Past) were broadcasted in neighboring countries and premiered at international festivals (VERZIO International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival and Chagrin Documentary Film Festival). The first feature-length documentary they co-produced with HBO Europe and Campfilm is Her Mothers (dir: Asia Der, Sari Haragonics), which premiered at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in 2020. In the past four years Match Frame Productions started to develop and produce its first feature-length documentaries.
They have two projects in development: M10H VR and Agent of Happiness (Bhutanese-Hungarian co-production directed by Dorottya Zurbó and Arun Bhattarai, won the best pitch award and IEFTA award at Dhaka DocLab and participated at TFI Network Market and Cannes Marche du Film in 2020). Match Frame has three feature-length projects in production: Missing 10 Hours (dir: Krisztina Meggyes) is in pre-production and is supported by Creative Europe MEDIA, the Hungarian National Film Fund and HBO Europe. I Won't Die (dir: Asia Dér) is in production and is fully funded by the National Film Institute (as the successor of the Hungarian National Film Fund). The project also participated at CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator. Little Ones, a long-term documentary (dir: Máté Artur Vincze) being filmed for 12 years is in production for 5 years now and Match Frame also co-produces Afterglow (dir: Noémi Veronika Szakonyi) which is supported by the Hungarian National Film Fund and the Sundance Institute.
